Senior Process Engineer
Leesburg, VA

The position of Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes and methods. Evaluation and installation of automated electronic manufacturing equipment, training of personnel and floor layouts are important functions of this position. The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer will continuously review assembly operations for accuracy, proper methods of manufacturing and optimization of the manufacturing processes.

 

  • Participate and lead new product introduction (NPI) activities for all electronic assemblies including SMT, through-hole and electromechanical assemblies.

  • Prepare and review solder paste printing, reflow, wave solder and selective solder programs and recipes. Automated soldering experience is highly desired.

  • Troubleshoot and optimize manufacturing processes for ease of operation, labor, and cost reduction.

  • Create assembly work instructions and program manufacturing equipment including Wave Solder, Selective Soldering, Dispensing, Conformal Coating and Robotics systems.

  • Prepare method of manufacturing for electronic and electromechanical assemblies.

  • Prepare labor quotes using an existing labor quote model.

  • Create and design assembly panel drawings, tools and fixtures using AutoCAD and/or 3D modeling software.

  • Participate in lean manufacturing activities and/or lead kaizen teams.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical or electrical engineering or two year technical associates degree and related job experience.

  • 5+ years experience in electronic manufacturing.

  • Knowledge of MRP systems, industrial systems and/or industrial engineering.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD and/or 3D modeling software.

  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, self-directed, and capable of interacting and communicating with all levels within the organization.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of applicable ISO processes and procedures.

  • Ability to multitask and lead / prioritize multiple projects

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of SMT, through hole and electromechanical assemblies.

  • Knowledge of small, mid and high volume electronic manufacturing processes and systems.

  • Extensive knowledge of labor standards for Electronic Assemblies.

  • SPC, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, kaizen.

  • Component engineering, DFM, DFT, DFX.
